Lightweight, stackable die cast hoods save space in miniature basestations

A range of new D-sub die cast zinc cable hoods has been launched by GTK. Delivered as kits of easy-to-assemble modular components, the DTZK and DVZK series offer cable entry at the top of the hood and at a 45º angle, respectively.

Constructed from nickel plated die cast zinc, the hoods are lightweight, durable, and far less prone to corrosion than previous zinc plated hoods. They are also low profile and stackable, making them ideal for use in miniature basestations and other applications where space is limited and high levels of screening are required.

Available in standard 9-, 15-, 25- and 37-way versions, DTZK/DVZK hoods accept cable diameters from 4 mm to 13 mm. They incorporate steel fibre reinforced polycarbonate strain relief to prevent cables escaping from the hoods if yanked.

All hoods can be customised with moulded or printed logos, or alternatively printed with the cable function to avoid confusion in complex cable assemblies. Additionally, the jackscrews can be colour coded.

The zinc construction of the hoods gives good electromagnetic shielding, with attenuation of >40 Db between 30 MHz and 1 GHz. The hoods have VDE 0871, FCC 20780 and 89/336/EU approvals.
