A new
range of five-row, 2-mm-grid backplane connectors has
been introduced by GTK. The Metrix II series of high-density
modular connectors come in four standard module sizes
- 30, 60,120 and 240 way - which can be combined to
produce custom PCB interconnect solutions. Applications
will be primarily in various types of telecommunications
equipment.
GTK guarantees volume delivery of Metrix II connectors
in 6-8 weeks, compared to current waiting times for
other five-row connectors of up to 50 weeks.
The connector modules can be custom manufactured with
a choice of 15 different contact pin heights. Uniform
or variable pin heights can be specified within each
module so that, for example, one row of longer pins
makes contact first upon insertion to provide a ground
connection.
